Tetra Launches New TetraPond Sterlet Sticks
Release date: 11/02/2005
April 2005
Building on its hugely successful TetraPond foods category, Tetra, the leading fish food and treatments supplier in the UK, is launching an innovative pond food - TetraPond Sterlet Sticks - specifically designed to meet the unique and complex feeding requirements of Sterlets and other sturgeon.
Sterlets and other sturgeon have a unique feeding biology which makes them very different to other pond fish. For example, they have a low tolerance to carbohydrates and enjoy a natural diet that is very different to other commonly kept fish. This means they need a completely different formulation, and cannot be fed on sinking foods for other bottom feeders such as tench and catfish. TetraPond Sterlet Sticks are therefore the only food in the marketplace which has been formulated solely for the unique feeding requirements of Sterlets and other Sturgeon.
TetraPond Sterlet Sticks were developed through in depth research trials with ornamental sturgeon farms and the Institute of Fisheries in Potsdam, to ensure they keep sterlets and sturgeon in excellent health and condition . This was co-ordinated by Tetra’s extensive R&D department – the largest of its kind in the world.
Chris Nickson, Marketing Manager, Tetra comments; “Sterlets and other Sturgeon have grown in popularity over the years due to their unique appearance and ‘friendly’ nature. However, they have unique dietary requirements which up until now have not been properly met. Our entry into this market is reflective of our commitment to optimise fish health. By feeding a food that is precisely matched to a particular fish’s needs means the condition of that fish will be improved.”
